Increased Home Loan Benefits for Veterans
I am excited to announce new changes passed by Congress and signed by the President have expanded Veteran eligibility and access to VA’s home loan programs.
Now certain members of the Army National Guard and Air National Guard of the United States are eligible for VA home loan benefits. To be eligible, the member must have performed no less than 90 cumulative day of full-time National Guard duty, of which, at least 30 of those days must have been served consecutively.
VA direct and VA-backed Veteran’s home loans help Veterans, service members, and their survivors to buy, build, improve, or refinance a home. VA benefits include lower interest rates and closing costs than conventional loans. Those eligible may not have to make a down payment and mortgage insurance is not required. For example, nearly 90% of VA-backed loans are made with no down payment.
Eligible members will still need to have the required credit and income for the loan amount they want to borrow.
This law applies to all COE applications received on or after January 5th of 2021/ Applicants who may have been previously denied VA home loan benefits and now meet the requirements for eligibility are encouraged to reapply this year.
We are excited to begin helping more veterans than ever before under these new guidelines. If you are a veteran, service member, or surviving spouse and are interested in exploring VA home loan options, please contact me. I would be happy to review your information.
